Two-Sentence Thursday Prayer: Teach Us How To Pray

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts toward Him, true dependence upon Him, and daily communication with Him as well as relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. We pray we are sincere, yielded and responsive to the answers, love, and wisdom God gives us as a result of seeking Him wholeheartedly even in the simplest of prayers.
Ever feel like you hitting a dart board with air when it comes to praying? Or where did the joy go you once had when praying? Or how do you pray when you don’t have the motivation, let alone the words? Or how do you even pray effectively?

“This, then, is how you should pray:

‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.'”

Matthew 6:9‭-‬10‭, ‬12‭-‬13 NIV

Help us Lord to pray in faith, in Your holy name and with humility, reverence, thanksgiving, worship, repentance, petition and also intercession. And let the Holy Spirit as well as the desire to know You guide our prayers. Let our prayer begin and never end. Let us pray without ceasing.

Father,

Help us to commune with you and spend quality time with You. Moreover, help us to pray consistently and daily, from Your very heart, with sincerity, confidence and belief in Your Word as well as with Your strategies.
In Jesus’s name. Amen

Two-Sentence Prayer Thursday: Steal, Kill, Destroy

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts toward Him, true dependence upon Him, and daily communication with Him as well as relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. Sometimes, we forget the devil has plans and seeks to fulfill his purpose too. His plans are evil; moreover, he is on the prowl and at work every day to steal, kill, and destroy lives, impacts, destinies, reputations, hope, you, resources, innocence, truth encouragement, relationships, and more. With the current division, racism, hatred, divorces, murders, violence, selfishness, greed, debt, and wicked agendas spreading throughout the land, there is evidence he is at work to fulfill his plans. But God!

As I am spurred closer to God, the Holy Spirit reveals areas of my life where the devil has stolen, killed, and destroyed. One thing the enemy has been attacking is my joy and peace of mind. I would ask myself, “as a Christian, if Jesus is on the inside of me, shouldn’t I bear His joy and peace no matter what is going on around me?” God led me to this very scripture (John 10:10) to meditate on and pray. His Word is a weapon and His Word cannot return to Him void.

John 10:10 states that the “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 NLT http://bible.com/116/jhn.10.10.NLT

As I pray and meditate on His Word, I am believing it and believing that I will receive and walk in this from here on out.

Today’s Prayer:

Jesus, my big Brother, thank You that You came that I might have life, and that I might have it more abundantly, so help me to surrender to You and receive this life. I declare that everything that the devil has stolen, killed, and destroyed in my life be returned, resurrected, and restored in Your holy name.

Amen!

Two-sentence Prayer Thursday: Help My Disbelief

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts toward Him, true dependence upon Him, and daily communication with Him as well as relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. We pray we are sincere, yielded and responsive to the answers, love, and wisdom God gives us as a result of seeking Him wholeheartedly even in the simplest of prayers.

Mark 9:23-25 states,

23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

Seems like an oxymoron right. How can you say you believe one minute but help my unbelief the next? Well think of it like this. Have you ever believed God for something, say like a bill getting paid; no one could talk you out of that belief? But when it came to trusting God and believing Him for your healing, you just couldn’t quite believe that your healing would manifest. Maybe you believed you were being punished and thought it wasn’t God’s will to heal you and/or maybe you didn’t meditate on God’s Word concerning His healing virtues and promises. This father mentioned in Mark 9 believed God yet doubt would creep in. However, Jesus was unbothered by His disbelief for death, sickness, and doubt are no match for God’s grace, mercy, Word, and power. Yet, we must allow our faith to be strengthened through God’s Word and prayer.

Today’s Prayer:

Father God,

Help my disbelief and break up the fallow ground in my heart. Purify my heart and strengthen my faith as I saturate in Your Word and seek You daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Two-Sentence Prayer Thursday: God Says You Matter

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts toward Him, true dependence upon Him, and daily communication with Him as well as relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. We pray we are sincere, yielded and responsive to the answers, love, and wisdom God gives us as a result of seeking Him wholeheartedly even in the simplest of prayers.

God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He is mindful of you. He counts the hairs that are on your very head. He collects your tears and comforts you. He knows your every move and knew you before you were even in your mother’s womb. He is crazy about you, deeply in love with you. You matter to Him but Satan doesn’t want you to believe that.

So, remind yourself these things daily. Believe that God loves you and wants you and is advocating and working in your behalf daily. And He has employed a great defense team for you that not only has your back but loves you just as much. His Son–who gave His life to rescue you from the clutches of eternal separation from God– The Holy Spirit, and His angels are all here to aid you to fulfill your destiny because you matter to God. You have to trust Him, believe Him and receive from Him.

Father,

Deliver me from the devil’s deception that I don’t matter and help me to believe that I truly matter to You. Help me to love myself and see myself through Your eyes, in Jesus’s name, amen.

Two-Sentence Prayer Thursday: Living Wretched

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts toward Him, true dependence upon Him, and daily communication with Him as well as relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. We pray we are sincere, yielded and responsive to the answers, love, and wisdom God gives us as a result of seeking Him wholeheartedly even in the simplest of prayers.

Reading The book of Hosea helped me to see that the spirit of prostitution is definitely a spirit to pray against. Not only did Hosea’s wife deal in that spirit but the nation of Israel did also. They forsook the One who loved them from the beginning, who nurtured them, and chose them as His own. They were intent on pursuing idols while even simultaneously worshiping God. But they weren’t committed, and their worship was more routine and religious. They were living wretched.

Often times, we forget our first love, our great and gracious Father who first loved us and breathed life into us with His unfailing love. We try and give God our hearts but with no devotion, quality time, and true worship. We are often distracted, wore out, and in pursuit of everything more than God who gives us everything we need. Yet, God even after allowing us to sometimes reap those consequences of our choices, He still is merciful and gracious. He relents from giving us all what we deserve and pours love out on us instead.

Today’s Prayer:

Forgive us Lord for living oppressed and not walking in the freedom You have given us. Forgive us for not pursuing You and for being intent on going after idols. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Two-Sentence Prayer Thursday: Help Me Not To Faint

God is not impressed with our extensive vocabulary or how elegant we can sound with our words. Rather, He is looking for undivided hearts and true dependence upon Him, daily communication with Him, and relationship. With that said, we will take Thursdays and post Two-Sentence Prayers to pray. We pray we are sincere, yielded and responsive to the answers, love, and wisdom God gives us as a result of seeking Him wholeheartedly even in the simplest of prayers.

Life can be a challenge sometimes for everyone, including for us who believe and follow Jesus Christ. However, Jesus kept it real with His disciples by letting us know we would face trouble in this world. We will go through some things. But those troubles can’t stop our faithful, almighty God from bringing to full completion His work He has started in us. We just have to believe, stay yielded to Him, and not faint. Don’t give up and don’t get tired of doing the right thing and being righteous because in due time we will reap.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, please help me to stay consistent in all that I do. I desire to see everything You want for my life come to full completion, so help me to not grow weary in well doing and to not faint so that I may reap. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Have you been feeling like you are about to faint? Is life becoming overwhelming? Let us pray for you.
